Four men in their 20s and 30s have been killed in a horrible road crash in Howard Springs on 19 February, 2022.
National Territory Police attended the scene at about 6.45pm to investigate on the car crash involving 2006 white Holden Commodore sedan on Hillier Road. The driver is said to be a 32-year-old man who was travelling with three more men, aged 27, 30 and 36.
Brendan Lindner, the Senior Sergeant in charge of the Major Crash Investigation Unit, said that the vehicle missed the road and crashed into a culvert before catching fire. He also added that all the four on board were extensively burned and the process of formal identification was happening.
The officer revealed that the car was travelling at high speed, but he was not sure what has let to those circumstances. Investigations will be done to identify if alcohol was involved, said the Senior Sergeant.
He also added that it was utterly horrific for everyone involved including bystanders, emergency workers, paramedics and relatives. Hillier Road was blocked in both directions until Sunday midday as the crash investigators were examining the scene.
The most important advice from Brendan Lindner is to stay safe on the road and drive according to the road conditions. He also insisted drivers to modify their driving if there is a downpour and the roads are wet.
